The She-Cession By The Numbers, Part 2
In light of the recent release of the U.S. Department of Labor’s April 2022 jobs report, it seemed like an appropriate time to do another deep dive into the numbers. Last time, in response to January’s report indicating that men had surged over a million jobs while women endured a net job loss, we tried to look at what happened and why, concluding with a sober prediction: that the pattern we could observe over the pandemic— where women’s employment numbers stagnated during surging numbers of Covid-19, cases while men’s tended to only slow down— was likely to continue without intervention.
